Getting the right hearing aid for your hearing loss.

To me this is one of the biggest misconceptions about hearing aids: that all hearing aids are the same. If you go to someone who doesn’t perform some sort of real ear measurements where they actually use an independent means of verifying if your hearing aid is actually doing what it is suppose to, then you are taking a big chance.

If you are going to purchase a hearing aid from any hearing health care provider, demand that they perform these tests. In addition to Speech Mapping, we even verify how much better they will understand in noise with HINT (hearing in noise testing). If you go to someone who does this routinely, you are going to someone who knows and understands just how important a good-fitting hearing aid is. They will be able to show you with independent proof that your hearing aids performance is right for you. Of course this will have a direct correlation of how much benefit you’re going to get from your hearing aid.
