Hearing Aids and Safety, Part 2

What’s stunning to me is the number of people who go to their doctor’s appointment and don’t understand what their doctor told them.  They come away confused, uncertain and even misunderstanding directions or recommendations.  Many decisions are made by someone with a hearing loss that are not based on actual conversations, but on what they thought was said.

Being independent is one of the most important goals for most aging people.  If you have good hearing you can stay independent and function very normally.  With poor hearing you are handicapped unless you wear hearing correction.  If you have poor hearing it doesn’t take long before you begin to question almost everything.  And I literally mean everything.  You can never be sure you got what was said right.  You by now have made many decisions that were based on what you thought was said, and later come to find out you completely misunderstood what was said.  Life really doesn’t have to be like this.

If you have a hearing loss, please get correction if correction is recommended.  Hearing is one of the most precious senses we have.  Good hearing will serve you, and those you are around, very well.  Be safe.
